New Donations Button

Well, I finally did it, I added a Donate button to both the front page and the forums (down at the bottom, I hope it remains unobtrusive). I didn’t want to and I held off doing so for a very long time but I find it may really become nessessary in the coming year.

As many of you know, hosting a website isn’t cheap, NorthernGamer runs me about $200 and endless hours of time a year. That comes out of my own pocket and for the most part I am more than happy to do it. I think it’s been a real boon to our local gaming community and providing it gives me pleasure.

That being said, every few months when I have to pay the bill I kind of cringe. Now, even if no one donates a single penny, I will continue to host the site… that’s not going anywhere. And I don’t want people to feel obligated to donate something in any way. The button is there simply as a way for anyone who has an extra buck or two (or 1,000,000!) and wants to give my webhosting budget a slight break.

Again, please, I know times are tough all around, don’t feel that being a NortherGamer user obligates you in any way, we’re MORE than happy to have everyone here. Buit if the button generates even a few bucks toward to website bill it will have done its job.

Thank you all for reading my ramble.

Game on!

Crusade for the Anchor Corridor!

For all you rabid 40K players who have gone too long without an online Warhammer 40K Campaign, here’s some news for you!

Starting December 12th, 2008 and running until January 22, 2009, NorthernGamer.com will be hosting Alaska’s first Online Warhammer 40K Campaign. The Crusade for the Anchor Corridor will be done in the style of GW’s own Medusa campaign from a couple years back. Players will have the opportunity to register their favorite force on the website and then play games with their friends over the following six weeks to see who can gain control of the Anchor Corridor. All battle reports will be handled through a submission form on the website.

When: December 12th, 2008 to January 22nd, 2009
Where: Anywhere!
Cost: Free!

How Do I sign up? Point your browser to www.northerngamer.com/anchor and read the campaign rules and history and then register your army!

Full rules are available on the website and will be copied to the Campaign’s sections of the forums in the near future.
